Placement and Career Services
The primary emphasis of the Placement Office is on employability and success of our graduates in the professional world. While no reputable school can guarantee employment, Lake College continues to maintain a high percentage of graduates employed in their field of training. Placement success is greatly influenced by the student's attendance, overall attitude, academic performance and use of self-directed job search skills acquired through working with the Placement Coordinator. Lake College offers the following employment assistance services to all students and graduates at no additional cost.
Career Success Workshop
This one (1) semester course is comprised of three key elements: 1) Practical job readiness with the goal of producing a resume and cover letter. 2) Job searching skills, including mock interviews and networking. 3) Surveying career paths with local business and healthcare professionals.
Resume Development
Proper resume development is the initial step in conducting a well-planned job search. Each student is asked to fill out a personal data sheet which contains the information necessary to develop a resume. The instructor then assists in the design, preparation and editing of information to produce a professional and personal resume.
Resume Distribution
The Placement Office distributes and markets to prospective employers students' resumes and a detailed description of the students' program(s) of study.
Networking & Job Listings
Lake College places graduates throughout Northern California. The Placement Office obtains job listings from various sources including alumni referrals, the internet, employers who regularly seek quality entry level staff, and community partners (i.e. Chamber, extern sites, staffing agencies).
