Computer Software Skills

The Lake College Workshop Program* offers hands-on training in common software applications. It is ideal for companies wishing to improve the productivity of their employees. Workshops are open to groups of five to eight people, and can be tailored to meet specific objectives. Lake College currently offers workshops on the following topics:

  • Microsoft Office 2007 - Learn what's new, what's different, and how to do the things you want to do.
  • Word: Basic - Learn to create documents with different fonts and formats, add tables and images, and print your work the way you want it.
  • Word: Intermediate - Explore advanced formats, styles, different print media, graphics, and professional-quality print documents.
  • Excel: Basic - Create spreadsheets, apply basic formats, do calculations, add charts, and use basic Excel functions.
  • Excel: Intermediate - Learn advanced formatting, complex calculations, higher functions, interactive worksheets, and Excel macros.
  • Access: Basic - Learn the basics of databases including setup, entering data, maintenance, and making changes to existing databases.
  • PowerPoint - Create dynamic presentations with slide transitions, embedded movies, soundtracks, and interactive effects.
  • Outlook - Learn the basics of email, calendars, tasks, contacts and scheduling meetings.
  • Web Development: Basic - Create basic web pages with HTML, graphics, tables and forms, and host your pages online.
  • Web Development: Intermediate - Explore JavaScript, style sheets, advanced formats, interactive forms, and advanced hosting features.
  • Desktop Publishing - Learn to create quality full-color brochures, fliers, posters, banners, business cards, stationary, web-graphics and more.

Our workshops are designed for professionals, students, and anyone else who wants to brush up on their skills or take their productivity to the next level. Groups of five to eight participants are required.

Each 4-hour workshop costs $75 per person, which includes the cost of all materials and textbooks (if required). If you are interested, please take a moment to tell us which workshops you are interested in, how many people are in your group, and when you would prefer to take classes.
