Externships

The externship is the culminating educational experience that completes our certificate programs. Successful completion of the externship is required for graduation. The externship is a full-time position with a local employer who has agreed to take the student on as a trainee. The student will have an opportunity for practical “hands-on” experience in an actual professional setting. The externship is supervised by the certificate program leader who consults regularly with the workplace supervisor. The externship is not a paid position as it is part of the educational program. While every effort is made to offer an externship that is compatible for the student, the College cannot guarantee the work schedule or the location of the externship.

Students will not receive a grade for this course until all course objectives have been met successfully, regardless of the scheduled course hours. Scheduled hours reflect the minimum required hours for the course and may vary on an individual student basis.
